In search of the design of the Smart Roadster model, which we showed in our previous post, we came across these drawings of the next generation of Mercedes-Benz SLK used for brand. Is this an official video of the 2012 SLK already leaked online (you can use it after the jump, if you forget to see), these pictures give just a little more and unobstructed view of a roadster with a retractable hardtop.

With a silhouette similar (though edged detail) on the previous model, the new SLK comes on the market to offer sometime next year, buyers show a revised engine lineup of four-cylinder and V6 gasoline engine, and if the rumors to be true, a diesel Option to. The area with a high-performance AMG model will be completed, will be equipped with twin-turbo V6 or a larger V8 engine.

Watch for the SLK, on either the Detroit Motor Show in mid-January or the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Mercedes-Benz BIOME Concept LA SHOWS 2010

New Concept at LA SHOW this is Mercedes-Benz readied the BIOME, a super lightweight and eco-friendly (more than you could ever image...) sports car. It was created by a design team from the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studios in Carlsbad, California. If you read the press release though, you'll probably think that Mercedes is talking about a cucumber and not a car. Don't believe us? Check out this expert:


"[The team] Taking their inspiration from nature, they designed a vehicle which is fully integrated into the ecosystem, from the moment of its creation right through to the end of its service life. The Mercedes-Benz BIOME grows in a completely organic environment from seeds sown in a nursery. Out on the road the car emits pure oxygen, and at the end of its lifespan it can be simply composted or used as building material."

But wait, it gets even better:



"The vehicle is created from two seeds: The interior of theBIOME grows from the DNA in the Mercedes star on the front of the vehicle, while the exterior grows from the star on the rear. To accommodate specific customer requirements, the Mercedes star is genetically engineered in each case, and the vehicle "grows" when the genetic code is combined with the seed capsule. The wheels are grown from four separate seeds."

Mercedes-Benz recall


Mercedes-Benz is recalling about 85,000 of its 2010 and 2011 cars because of potential steering problems.

Owners may return the cars to dealers, who will check the powering steering systems for free, the company says

The recall affects 2010 C-Class cars as well as the 2010 and 2011 E-Class coupe and cabriolet models.

Steering issues om the 2010 C-Class and the 2011 E-Class models, because the high pressure power steering line may have a connection fitting which is not tight enough.
In the report by Mercedes, they said, “Owners may not have sufficient control of the vehicle under circumstances such as parking where maximum power steering is required.”

The car is completed with climate control, the xenon headlights, system of an automatic parking, and also a totality of airbags. It is known that one of weak places electromobiles is that at driving with the engaged air conditioner or an oven, the accumulator charge comes to an end too quickly. Germans have thought up how partially to solve this problem. When the car costs at night on additional charge, to it it is possible to allow to warm up or cool in advance a remote command interior. By the way, from a household network new non-polluting Mercedes-Benz are charged for 8 hours. At special stations with high-voltage socket connections – for 3 hours.

Mercedes Announces Engine Range and Prices for 2011 CLS, Starts Accepting Orders


While we'll have to wait for the Paris Motor Show at the end of the month to get up close and personal with the all-new, second generation CLS sports sedan, Mercedes-Benz today released info on the available engine range and pricing for the European market. Furthermore, the Stuttgart automaker said that as of now, European buyers can place their order for the new CLS at the firm's sales partners.

At launch, there will be two V6 models available; the CLS 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY with a 265HP diesel unit and the CLS 350 BlueEFFICIENCY with a 306HP 3.5-liter gasoline engine featuring ECO start/stop tech as standard. In Germany, prices are set at €63,427 and €64,617, respectively, with first deliveries to be shipped to European dealers in January 2011.

From March 2011, the range will be expanded with the CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY powered by a 204HP 2.1-liter four-cylinder turbocharged diesel that returns a combined fuel economy of 5.1lt/100km (equal to 46.1mpg US / 55.4mpg UK) and to CO2 emissions of just 134 g/km. Pricing starts from €59,857.

In December 2010, European buyers will be able to order the CLS 500 BlueEFFICIENCY with a 408HP V8 gasoline unit, with first deliveries commencing in April 2011.

All 2011 CLS models will come equipped with Merc's 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission as standard.

For the first year of production, Mercedes-Benz will offer a special package called "Edition 1" priced from €6,664, which includes matt exterior paintwork in manganite grey SHAPE, shimmering metallic leather upholstery designo corteccia pearl, floormats with "Edition 1" lettering, black designo roof liner and aluminium pedals.

For the interior trim elements in the "Edition 1", Mercedes offers a choice between poplar light-brown satin, ash black high-gloss or, as an optional extra, AMG Carbon priced at a hefty €10,115.

An AMG version of the CLS powered by the German automaker's new 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 with at least 536-ponies will follow within the next year or so.
