2011 BMW Z4 Reviews

The 2011 BMW Z4’s specs are as follows
BMW has added a few new paint finishes to the mix, however, as well as the optional M Sports Package. The sDrive35is model will offer features like 18-inch light-alloy wheels in a five-spoke pattern as standard equipment. The 2011 BMW Z4 comes in three trim levels: the sDrive30i, the sDrive35i, and the sDrive35is.

Standard interior features on the base models of the two-seat roadster include leatherette vinyl upholstery, HD radio, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and six-way manually adjustable seats.
A six-speed manual transmission comes standard on all trims but the sDrive35is, which offers BMW’s dual-clutch seven-speed transmission. Remarkably, the high-performance version of the 2011 BMW Z4 is not as thirsty as one would expect because of its sophisticated BMW EfficientDynamics technology--As with all luxury sports cars, car insurance premiums on the 2011 Z4 are likely to be high.

For the 2010 Detroit show, BMW is bringing along a new range-topping Z4, one with a massaged engine, subtly modified looks, and a load of M Sport touches.

Transmission options number one; the sDrive35is will be available only with BMW’s seven-speed double-clutch transmission. BMW estimates a 0-to-60-mph time of 4.7 seconds—we’ve seen 4.8-second runs from a standard sDrive35i and wouldn’t be surprised if the sDrive35is can manage the task in something closer to 4.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph. What’s more, BMW expects the 35is car to match the EPA mileage rating of the 35i with dual-clutch transmission—17 mpg city/24 highway. The Z4 35is gets unique, sporty programming for its electric power steering system. We’ve derided this system in the standard car, calling it vague and lacking in feedback. Standard wheels are 18-inch five-spokes, with 19s available as an option. Interior trim is done in what BMW calls Aluminum Carbon, which supposedly renders the look of a carbon-fiber weave in aluminum.

The "2011 BMW Z4" is a two-seat retractable-hardtop luxury roadster available in three trim levels that correspond with engine choice: sDrive30i, sDrive35i and sDrive35is.
Standard equipment on the sDrive30i includes 17-inch wheels, adjustable sport driving settings (steering, throttle and automatic transmission if applicable), automatic adaptive xenon headlights, automatic wipers, a fully powered retractable hardtop, cruise control, leatherette premium vinyl upholstery, six-way manually adjustable seats and a sound system that includes a single-CD player, auxiliary audio jack and HD radio. This package includes 18-inch wheels, adaptive suspension dampers, an aerodynamic body kit, increased top speed, a thicker M steering wheel and 10-way manually adjustable sport seats with power bolster adjustment.
The Cold Weather package adds to all models heated seats, a heated steering wheel, retractable headlight washers and a trunk pass-through. The Premium package adds auto-dimming mirrors, power-adjustable seats, BMW Assist telematics, Bluetooth and on the 30i, leather upholstery and automatic climate control. A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a traditional six-speed automatic is optional. EPA-estimated fuel economy with both transmissions is 18 mpg city/28 mpg highway and 22 mpg combined.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard and a dual-clutch seven-speed automated manual is optional. The dual-clutch automated manual is standard. BMW estimates a 0-60 time of 4.7 seconds. Estimated fuel economy is 17/24/19.

Side impact airbags, antilock brakes with brake assist and stability control are all standard on the 2011 BMW Z4. BMW Assist emergency telematics is optional.
The 2011 BMW Z4's cabin is sleek and upscale.

Even the base "2011 BMW Z4" sDrive30i is an entertaining drive thanks to its willing and exceptionally smooth 255-hp inline-6.

BMW X5 Performance parts for North America

BMW has announced its BMW Performance brand accessories will soon be available at dealers across North America. BMW Performance also boasts of having rear fins in Matt black and a front grid finished in high-gloss black paint. On the inside, BMW is offering a new steering wheel and pedal set. The BMW Performance Aluminum Pedal Kit includes gas pedal, brake pedal, and footrest pedal, all crafted out of aluminum with rubber inserts. The BMW X5 SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) rides on unique 21 inch alloy rims that are wrapped in high performance tires.

BMW has released a range of BMW Performance products for the facelifted E70 BMW X5. BMW Performance bodykits look different from the M-Sport bodykits and are often more aggressive-looking.

Anyway back to the BMW Performance parts for the "BMW X5". There’s now a BMW Performance Aero Kit for the BMWX5, which BMW claims was developed in BMW’s wind tunnel in Munich.

On the interior there’s a BMW Performance Aluminium Pedal Kit which is made of aluminum with rubber inserts.
The package basically consists of aerodynamic components, aluminum pedals, special kidney grilles, and a new flat-bottom Sport steering wheel.

Inside the car you get Aluminum Pedal Kit that includes gas pedal, brake pedal, and footrest pedal, ergonomically crafted of aluminum with rubber inserts. The most unique feature of the package however is the race-inspired multifunction steering wheel featuring flat bottom and covered in hand-stitched Alcantara material.

The 2011 BMW 328i

The rear-wheel drive BMW 328i is available in coupe, sedan, wagon and cabriolet bodies, while the xDrive all-wheel drive system is available in coupe, sedan and wagon only. A six-speed manual transmission is standard on all variations, with a six-speed automatic transmission optional.

As BMW runs a war path with new model introductions — two gigantic, turtle-shaped crossovers a year, at this pace — they haven't forgotten where the profit margin lies. It's in the little 3 Series. Young maverick-type men and attractive suburban women can't, for the life of themselves, stay away from this car. So BMW's getting generous. It's a no-charge combo of 17-inch alloys, leather and iPod integration. In other words, BMW looked dumb selling a luxury car with 16-inchers, fake leather, and a $400 USB cable when Audi, Acura and even Mercedes do more for less.

At about the same time the 2011 BMW 328i Sport Wagon became available at U.S. dealers the all-new 5-series was also. If BMW’s X3 or X5 Sport Activity Vehicles meet your need, then you are still OK. If you wanted a car with space and versatility, then the 3-sport wagon is it.

The interior of the 3-wagon is stylish, comfortable and ergonomically friendly. For those bad weather conditions especially winter, in addition to the xDrive all-wheel–drive system, Dynamic Stability, Traction and Brake Control systems enhance the driving experience and overall safety. Looking at the X3, BMW’s smaller Sport Activity Vehicle or crossover, pricing starts at $38,850 whereas the Sport Wagon starts at $37,700. The X3 is a little quicker 0 to 60 mph at 7.1 sec. v 7.3 sec. for the Sport Wagon but there is a fuel economy tradeoff with the Sport Wagon at 17 city mpg and 26 highway mpg and the X3 at 17 city mpg but 24 highway mpg.

The Sport Wagon holds 25 cu. ft. behind the rear seat and the X3 holds 30 cuft. On the outside, the Sport Wagon is 1.3 inches shorter and a significant 10.2 inches lower. The empty-nester couple will be very comfortable in the Sport Wagon and the 4-doors and rear seat allow for easy accommodation of friends or family.

Most BMW dealers will provide a BMW loaner if you schedule it in advance…always a quick test drive opportunity

BMW M version of the 1-Series has finally debuted

Long rumoured and then long anticipated, the BMW M version of the 1-Series has finally debuted. Originally expected to be much more powerful, the 1-Series M Coupe ends up using a mildly-upgraded version of the twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-6, with 335 hp at 5900 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 1500 rpm to 4500 rpm, an engine already found in the 2010 BMW Z4 sDrive35is. A 6-speed manual is standard.

That figure marks the "BMW 1 Series M" out as the most “powerful” car in the compact sector. A 3.0-litre powertrain smacks out 340 ponies, helping to propel the BMW 1 Series M Coupe from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds, while on its way to a top speed of 155mph. The aforementioned stealthy exterior comes courtesy of widened wheel arches, 19-inch Y-spoke M alloy wheels, and dual chrome tailpipes – made to make your mouth water. Crack open the 1 Series’ doors and you'll find standard sports seats in Boston leather with Kyalami orange stitching. Everything else on display comes exclusively with the "BMW 1 Series M Coupe", this includes the use of Alcantara with Kyalami orange contrast stitching on the door trim, door inserts, handbrake, gear lever gaiter and instrument binnacle cover.

Changes to the M1 are extensive over the standard BMW 1 Series Coupe, a fact made most obvious by its jutting wheel arches, widened axles and huge 19-inch alloy wheels.
There are also quad exhaust tailpipes, aggressive front and rear bumpers with scooped air intakes, racing-style door mirrors and just three paint colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Valencia Orange.

BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept will make its world premiere at the Paris Motor Show on September 30. Out goes the controversial styling of the Bangle-era 6-Series and in comes Adrian van Hooydonk’s (the new BMW design Chief) sleeker and more elegant but also far less adventurous design lines.

The all-LED design, featured for the first time on a BMW, produces a strikingly bright white light with very sharp and intensive road illumination. The functionality includes Adaptive Headlights, i.e. the headlight beam follows the road at all times.

The alloy wheels are sporty and exclusive character. The 20-inch multispoke wheels are a one-off design milled from a solid aluminium block. The individual spokes have an elaborate three-dimensional design, with precisely defined contours and weight-reducing milled openings running parallel to the direction of travel.

The driver-centric interior design is typical of BMW and a hallmark of a sports coupe, it’s equipped with the Head-Up Display system that offers world-beating functionality and display quality. Part of this experience is a hi-fi system that was developed specially for this concept model and sets new standards for in-car listening enjoyment.

BMW is holding back on the technical details, the basic architecture of the 2+2 coupe is shared with the latest 5-Series so expect rear-wheel drive along with a choice of straight-six gasoline and diesel units plus a twin-turbo V8 petrol linked to either manual or 8-speed automatic transmissions.
