The VR Concept appears to be cloaked in aluminum body panels, with a sculpted form and wheel arches that are reminiscent of a Corvette Stingray; but its canopy and material usage are thoroughly modern. The entire canopy - inspired by the F/A 22 Raptor airplane - lifts forward along with the doors (though moving on their own axis) to provide access to the two seat-interior. Once inside, a simple and almost retro-inspired electronic dashboard presents instrumentation and display information relayed from two side-mounted cameras, which act as rear view mirrors. The hood is also unique in its design, with two support arches that extend toward the vertical headlamps and three slats over the engine bay.
Paulin has worked as a designer for the Ford Motor Company where he a was responsible for the exterior design for the 2004 Ford Focus concept car, the exterior of the 2003 Ford Focus C-Max and also designer of the ostentatious FAB1, created for the Thunderbirds movie. "I have studied the development of the last decennium and believe this is a logical development," says Paulin, CEO and Creative Director. "I have tried to create shapes where controlled sculptural surfaces meet dynamic graphical break-ups."
