Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, will introduce its EX Concept at the 2007 New York Auto Show. Albeit being labeled a concept, this vehicle presages closely an Infiniti luxury crossover SUV set to go on sale before the end of 2007. Mark Igo, vice president and general manager of Infiniti's North American division, says that: "The EX Concept is the perfect fusion of a luxury coupe and a high-utility SUV. It offers a coupe-like feel but surprising utility"
The EX concept is based on Nissan's FM platform used by other Infiniti products (M, FX and G Coupe and Sedan) but its wheelbase has been shortened to 112.0 inches and the rear multi-link suspension utilizes a low shock absorber layout to enhance cargo area utility. The vehicle also showcases a dramatic liquid crystal glass roof panel that is able to change from transparent to translucent. To help reduce blind spots when parking the Infiniti EX is equipped with an Around View Monitor (AVS) that utilizes small front, side and rear-mounted cameras to create an global top view image of the vehicle's surroundings.
